Having completed an Art Foundation course at Nene College, Northampton, I went on to graduate from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in fashion and knitwear. My love of detail, beading, embroidery and colour then led me towards a career in millinery. I was extremely fortunate to be trained by a very inspirational woman - the late Queen Mother’s milliner, Rose Cory, and to work with the milliner Judy Bentinck in London.
I have worked in the fashion industry for three major companies, based both in the UK and the USA. In the UK, my main role was as an embellishment designer, travelling to India and Hong Kong, supervising designs there on a regular basis.
I am currently based in Northamptonshire, and my designs include a Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter Collection. I also create bespoke hats for weddings, Royal Ascot, The Derby, and The Cheltenham Festival, amongst others! Each hat is uniquely designed to reflect the customer’s own personality and taste. My signature style uses simple, small silhouettes with beautiful, delicate embellishments. Silks, vintage veiling and feathers, handmade organza flowers and hand-beading all give the designs a unique and couture quality. I feel that millinery allows creativity and freedom; hats can be uncommercial, impractical, yet beautiful, theatrical pieces of art, which I love.
